Rock Opera Libretto
The rock opera, Shadows was commissioned by Classical Action: Performing Arts Against AIDS to teach high school students about the risks associated with HIV/AIDS. For the libretto, Bello Design integrated multiple facial features into each illustration with the theory that the students would identify with the characters if they saw a bit of themselves, or someone they know, within the features. One character, Ray, depicted with his mouth sewn shut, lacked the courage to speak out.
